Vincent Philip DaleyAbout The Author:

Vincent Philip Daley has breathed new life into a genré not easily revitalized through his book “It’s Still Me”. Poetry has been considered, if not long dead, then certainly passé by many in the literary community. Mr. Daley’s work reflects a wide breadth of interest and generates such intense emotional response that one cannot believe that they are reading poetry. All of his poems are completely readable and believable.

Born and raised in New York, Mr. Daley received both an undergraduate and an MBA degree from Fordham University. He also has spent the better part of his career in the business arena, most recently as the Vice President of Finance of a major magazine publisher. His work, however, leaves no doubt that he truly has the soul of an Irish poet. He is currently working on a sequel to “It’s Still Me” which is to be entitled “More Of Me”, to be followed by three other books based on his experiences in business, a two-year tour of duty in the Marine Corps in the late sixties, and his family.

About This Book:

“It’s Still Me” is Mr. Daley’s first published offering. In it, he draws upon both his experiences and events over a thirty-year period, to generate thirty-three moving poems covering a wide spectrum of subjects. The poems seem to have the ability to recreate images for the reader in graphic terms and to evoke an intense emotional response. If his poems do not reach you and touch you deeply, you are probably not reachable.

Van Varner, former editor in chief of Guideposts magazine called Mr. Daley upon receiving a copy of the book with the following reaction: “Vince, I just received the book and I have to tell you that it’s just wonderful.”

“It’s Still Me” is most assuredly an emotional journey well worth the time and effort needed to enter this author’s world.

Why I Wrote This Book:

I really did not set out to write “It’s Still Me”. While working on another book various experiences and events kept coming to mind almost exactly as described in the poem “Gentle Whispers.” The words and phrases just seemed to flow and every day or so the idea for a new poem would develop and ultimately a finished poem would appear. When the book was completed, I almost felt refreshed, as if I had to revisit all these events and experiences in order to move on.

My goal in publishing this book is not that the reader will marvel at the quality of the poetry included in it. Rather, I would hope, that he will be able to relate to it in some fashion and perhaps apply the examples of my journey to his own personal experiences.

Hopefully, through this book, I have been successful in sharing some of my thoughts, insights, and emotions with you.

Sincerely,
Vincent Philip Daley
