TIVOLI To Artist and Designers - At a
recent informal discussion between Tivoli Village officials and local artists, an idea was
born: to create a resource file/ directory of Tivoli artists and designers who would be
interested in working on projects in the Tivoli area. This would fulfill at least three
functions: to provide the Village with a list of artists and designers who would be
available to bid on local projects; to promote community awareness of the talents within
our midst as well as the arts in general; to assist us as artists and designers to support
and collaborate with each other. We are compiling this directory with Marc Molinaro's
support.
To that end, we urge and invite you to complete the form (click
for PDF format). Please include $10 check, payable to cash, to cover our expenses of
creating this file, and submit by June 15th to: Phyllis Palmer, P.O. Box 418, Tivoli, NY
12583. Additional forms will be available at the village office and the Tivoli Artist
Coop.
We are expanding the circle to include not only resident Tivolians but also those who have
had or, do have or want some affiliation or connection with Tivoli. Please join us in this
common endeavor, which will support our own work as artists and enhance the creative
spirit of Tivoli. Organizers: Phyllis Gay Palmer, Liza Macrae, Kathleen Mandeville, with
support of the Mayor Marc Molinaro.

TIVOLI LIBRARY
NOW ONLINE WITH ITS OWN WEB SITE
The web site's address is: http://www.tivolilibrary.org
The web site project is staffed by local volunteers,
including Evan and Matt Hempel, two school aged cousins who live a short bike ride away
from the library. In addition to posting information about library events, the site
focuses on aspects of northern Dutchess County that make it a unique place to live and
visit.
Topics in the works include a portrait of Tivoli Bays, the 1,300 acre nature preserve just
south of the village; a directory of the orchards of northern Dutchess County; and
information on how to control ticks and identify the symptoms of Lyme disease.
Visitors to the site can also access the Mid-Hudson Library System online catalog and
search a database of hundreds of thousands of books available through the system's
cooperative lending program.
"Free lending libraries are one of the oldest American institutions and one of the
ones most worth supporting," said McCarthy. "I hope this site encourages people
to look with new eyes at these important public resources which provide so much of lasting
value to their communities."
